MY04 OEM radio always has power HELP
Hey everyone, just bought my 2004 Silverstone S and on my way home, I stopped somewhere to eat (10 hour road trip to get it). Well, when i take the key out and open the door, the radio is still on. I was kind of confused and thought it would at least turn off when the door was opened, but it didn't. No matter what I do, arm/disarm alarm, wait hours, etc., if I ever get back in the car I can ALWAYS hit power and turn it on.
It's very annoying and I'm also concerned with killing my battery. The green light stays on if a CD is inserted, which I have to eject every time I turn my car off in order to avoid it draining the battery.
I've checked relays, fuses, etc. Funny thing is, I work at an Acura dealership and I'm sure sooner or later I'll get someone to deal with the headache of tracking this down...even though no one wants to...I thought it was worth a shot to ask here to see if anyone has dealt with it.
I searched and found an old somewhat similar issue thread and someone suggesting checking relays, so....
Thanks in advance

Just a shot in the dark, but there is a common problem with S2000s where the car still thinks the key is in the ignition when you remove it. Do you get the beeping reminder with the key out and the door open? Also, does your dome light (map lights) turn on when the door is opened and the switch is set to "door"? I don't remember if the radio is supposed to keep playing till the door is opened or not (common feature on many cars).

Yeah I thought it was that but the when the key is out, the beeping reminder goes away. The dome lights turn on when set to door and the door is opened and turn off when closed.
I appreciate you trying, this thing has stumped me

I'm betting my money it hasn't. Everything on the car is OEM. I just bought it the 26th of last month. I am going to eventually replace the head unit, but I want to make sure it's working properly so that if i return to stock it'll be fine and just to make sure this same thing wouldn't happen with the new HU.

I really don't know but I think I'd try removing the harness and re-connecting. This probably won't work but I'd try anyway. Since the harness and radio wiring are responsible for detecting power/no power, a loose connection even with one critical wire is possible. If this fails, take it to an after market sound system insatller, good chance he's seen the problem before.
