MY04 Loose Oil Drain Plug
I was at the dealer today and requested that they check out a random odor entering the interior that smelled like a cross between diesel fuel and glue. I don't know if they isolated my particular issue, but they found the oil drain plug loose and seeping oil (down 1-2Xs).
Since I haven't changed my oil yet (about 1,500 miles), it appears that the factory did not properly torque the drain plug or there might be an issue with vibration loosening the plugs for some reason.
Just a word of warning to new owners to check the drain plug to avoid future big problems.

It is entirely possible that the plug was not torqued correctly at the factory. It is also possible the drain plug is missing its crush washer. You better have a look. With the washer in place and the right torque applied these things do not vibrate loose.

Xviper makes a good point about the crush washer. Although I couldn't get far enough under the car to make a visual inspection, a "feel" inspection indicates that it is likely there (even though this is my first encounter with an S2K oil drain plug).
I haven't been able to get in touch with the tech who would have been in a much better position to verify the presence or absence of a crush washer contributing to the problem. I'll watch the oil plug closely until the first oil change.
I used to own a diesel and a crush washer was mandatory due to the severe vibration present in those type engines. I guess our S2K 4-cylinder, high-revving engines are also susceptible to the loosening effects of vibration. The crush washer is good insurance!
