Those picks at Napa will work....

Remember to get the pick under the END edge of the snap ring and pull QUICKLY in the UPWARD direction!
Hi SIIK2NR,

The only problem I "think" I have with your discription of the process is, I can easily visualize that snap ring flying off into oblivion if you're not careful. Did your's try to do this in any way or does it behave itself enough to stay in the general area when if finally does come loose?

Just wondering!

Good question....

The ring will only "lift" from one edge of the "C" or snap ring.

Once you pull an edge out, it will want to snap back in.....not out.

Once you pull an edge out, you will have to guide the pick around and underneath the ring to eventually pull it all the way out.

When I did it, I had one edge out and was trying to pull it out and it snapped back in.....started over and learned from my mistake.

This is exactly what I'd expect to happen if "I" try this!

It would be just my luck that I'd never see the thing again and I don't "even" want to find out what would be involved in getting another one. I bet the dealer can't even order it. It's probably available only with the slave cylinder assembly. At least that would be MY luck in this situation. I know I'm sounding pessimistic and paranoid but, while I'm not a totally incompetent mechanic (I'm sure I could do this procedure easily enough), Murphy really loves me sometimes!

I would think that a nice clean shop towel, draped in a strategic position, would be a prudent precaution!

Do the 03 and 04/05 slave cylinders look noticeably different?
Yes, the 03 and before cylinders are black and shorter than the 04+ ones. Plust the location for the line is different so you get some extra slack in the line that you have to deal with if you replace it (not a big deal though).

ok, apparently i did not tighten the bleed valve enough and the clutch went out on the way to work. no big deal, i had my brother/pit crew bring my jack and stand and i fixed that in a few mins. how tight should the bleed valve be? i only had pliers to tighten it, so it was hard to tell.

tks

Glad you made it ok.....

The specs for the bleed screw are:

9.8 N-m or 7.2 lbf-ft

PLEASE HELP!!!

I didn't align the metal ball properly and it punched through the rubber/plastic black boot that the slave sits in. do i need to get it replaced? does it hold any oil or pressure? or, if i can just get the metal ball into the socket, will it be ok?

thank you

ok, redid everythin and bled the clutch. now, the car makes a chugging sound when pushing the start button. almost like the battery is low. i cant figure it out. could it be that the clutch doesnt have enough pressure (feels like stock again)? or what else could it be. all the electronics in the car work, so i dont think its the battery? i need help. please.
