Just finished removing my CDV. Greatest free mod ever and thanks to the OP for this super great DIY!

PITA is an understatement on removing the c ring though. It took me 1 hour just to get that clip out and I have many tools including an 8 piece pic set. ARRRGH! BUT finally got it out and everything else went very smoothly.

Fyi, this post was started in 2005 as a tribute to billman, but a year later, billman posted this - https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=417350

Just food for thought for anyone thinking about removing a CDV.

Awesome write up. Getting that snap ring out was a truly miserable experience. We ended up drilling it. Without help from awesome friends and proper tools this wouldnt have gotten done at all. Had we not gotten stuck on removing the clip, this would have taken 45 minutes tops.

Car feels like a new car and im in love with it all over again. Well worth the incredible amount of trouble it ended up being to perform.

Just did this mod, by far the best free mod ever. Shifting feels so much better at high rpm. No more slipping clutch feeling. Took about an hr to do, the clip was a PITA...but had some tiny screwdrivers that worked perfect. I suggest this for anyone with an AP2.

From 1st gear.....floor it.....at redline.....shift....and keep the throttle floored.

Do your clutch work as usual and you will notice the car will not "grab" 2nd gear immediately after you've lifted off the clutch. In fact the delay is so long that by the time the delay is done, your already shifting into 3rd cause your at redline in 2nd.

What's it feel like?.......like your reving your ass off but no longer "pulling" kind of a floating sensation.

Culprit?........Slave cylinder

Result?.........smoked clutch

ALL 04/05's have it unless previously removed or swapped with 03.

Look under your car and if it looks like this:

Then you have the delay. You have to really bang the gears to feel it. If you've driven an 03 or below you'll DEFINATELY notice.
Old thread but i'im bump this up. Took me long time to find this/clear answer for my question. I give a to the OP, i think this thread should this be in DIY section for new S2k owners.
