I'm glad I saw this thread earlier this week. I just got my car last night and I was WTF is going on and then I remembered this thread.

Will try and do this mod this week.

Thanks a bunch for the writeup.

You can get a dental pick at Northern Freight or any of those other "manly tool stores".

Also available, probably on the same isle, is a Snap Ring Tool for just about the same price. It looks like a cheap pair of pliers and has replaceable tips to fit the different size snap rings. Nothing to it with the RIGHT tool. A dental pick is poor substitute and, as you found out, nothing else will work at all.

This sounds cool (except that my car is 2 weeks old). The only this is - I cant believe that before installing this stock piece, the Honda engineers weren't dumping the clutches themselves in testing. They would not have put on a part that intentionally made the car slower or excessively wear the clutch during hard driving. The car is made for hard driving.

Watch videos like this - and there doesnt seem to be mention of any slave delay etc...

I found a WAY easier way to get the snap ring out......Buy a 1/16 drill bit..Drill into the side of the slave so that you can push the snap ring with the pick.It will pop right out .

I was going to take pics of it but I dont have my camera here.

Hey guys, can the MY03 delay malfunction? Well I'm certain it can. I'm notcieing a delay mostly between 1st and second at high rpms now, I don't smell the cltuch cooking so I'm thinking I now have to get a replacement delay. Either that or the delay has always been there and my speed shifting is getting better or my clutch is going. I realistically think its the delay or clutch. Can I do this mod on the MY03 delay just to make sure that that isn't the problem? Suggestions?!

Hum crap then it must be the clutch or something... I'll have to have someone look at it.

Most likely your clutch slipping slightly...... remember that the stock setup does not have the clamping force of an aftermarket clutch...

Yeah but its a change from the norm, unless I'm pushing the car harder than I used to.
