You'll probably have metal shavings, etc. floating around the damaged engine, and you won't know if there's anything else wrong until you get it open. If your donor car is a known good working engine, then just swap it for now, and deal with the bad motor when you have time.
Did you know I went a bought a '92 3000GT VR4? Shopped around, test drove/beat it, had paperwork on engine & trans redone within the last few years. Within ONE month: reverse gear went, a power transistor went, huge exhaust hole developed past down pipe, and electrical gremlins. Continuous problems wore me down, I just couldn't spend any more hours troubleshooting and estimating the total for repair parts....

So my most excellent mechanic (who I met after running over a giant root ball in my CR-V) made me an offer I couldn't refuse, and he swapped engines with the donor car and I am back on the road. Sooooo nice to be driving in the awesome and reliable S2000 again. It's like I got out of jail.

Now I have a dead engine to go along with my project S2000, which will probably never make it's way into a CRX body - neat idea, but life+family+work > race car, so I will likely get rid of it along with all my (unused) racing gear. Oh well. Good to be back. - RJ
