My trunk is jammed shut
neither the key, key fob or the remote release are opening my trunk. I can hear the motor and the release make noise, but I can't get it open.
any ideas?
I've pry'd on it some, but don't want to damage it.

turns out it was my car battery.
The only thing I can suggest is when you turn the key, push down firmly on the trunk lid. Do you have something inside the trunk that may be exerting pressure upwards against the lid? Failing this, it would appear as though the latch mechanism is broken. I'm not sure how you would open it without damaging the trunk lid.

You can take all the interior out of the car and go into the trunk from inside the car and open it manually with the "person locked in trunk saftey latch"
Loudes, if you can't get the trunk open, give me a call...I don't live too far from you (about 5 miles). We'll figure it out with the tool set that I have.

You could always fold down the rear seats and slide through the opening...
J/K... I assume that the trunk release inside the glove box isn't doing anything eigther? The only way I know to get back there would be to remove the panels in the soft top tray and have a midget climb back there with a flash light and screw driver. I have a trunk monkey, he's pretty technically inclined so I have never had this issue.

No matter how you come through from the passenger compartment, you'd still have to smash your way through the trunk liner and you'd have to have a pretty long reach, in the dark and playing with how to turn the actually latch assembly. Practice on another S2000 beforehand might be a good excercise just to see what exactly has to be grabbed and turned.

Xviper,
if you remove the rear paneling, the headrests, and the boot tray, the push pins that hold the trunk panels (spare tire cover) can be pushed out using a ball point pen body.
Loudes is an avid track/auto-x driver. Maybe with the interior pulled out, he can see how much it all weighs and will decide not to reinstall all the plastics.
BTW, I have an opinion that his trunk is stuck and won't unlatch because the trunk springs are binding together. The trunk lock lets go for an instant, however, the springs don't allow the trunk to lift off the lock.
