I have to grab it with my hand and pull it down as it's about to connect with the windshield or it won't come down properly... very annoying, warranty should take care of it.

This started happening to me when the car was a month old. MY02...The top would go down 3/4s of the the way down and seem to bind. I would put it up a little then it would retract all the way. It does this about 40% of the time....I think it may have something to do with the glass window but don't know for sure. There is nothing in the service manual that would seem to be a fix for this either.

try this:
- make sure your car is clean/dry especially the top
- put the top half way down.
- then get out out of you car and fix how top folds down so they're nice and neat.
- then about 3/4 or more down, fix the folds again
- lastly, lower the top down completly. It should go down all the way without forcing it.
-leave it like that in your garage, for a day or two. This way, the top will be trained like this every time you put the top down.
(Think if it like how people wear beanies on their head before they go to bed. It somehow trains their hair to comb back.)
i had this problem before and my car is still new. I haven't had problems lately. I hope this helps.

I just located this thread, and I have been having this small annoyance with my '02 recently as the weather has cooled.
MacGyver mentioned a TSB... Has anyone done it, and is it worth it?
Has anyone found any value in "training" the top, as swtazn97 mentioned in the last post?

Chazmo,
I tried to perform the TSB on my '02, and could not get the stupid crowfoot wrench to fit onto the rubber stopper. I've come to the conclusion that it was specific to the '00-'01 models.
In anycase, the TSB was meant to adjust the stopping point of the top, and it wouldn't help if cold weather prevents the mechanism from reaching the stopper.
