Is my S2000 running hot? IAT and ECT seem high.
Whats up guys,
Lately the s2000 has been feeling sluggish. Feels like its constantly being massively heat soaked. I decided to connect my OBD tool and check IAT temps and ECT temps, to my surprise temps seem pretty high for casual city driving.
At idle getting:
IAT temps: 150 F
ECT temps: 200-203 F
Casual driving (40 mph cruise):
IAT temps: 135ish F
ECT temps: 190-195 F
This is done in a cool 75 F day here in Florida.
Numbers seem pretty high to me. Been looking through the forum for answers, but cant seem to find a solid one. What do you guys think of the situation and these numbers? If this is not normal, what could be the cause? I am thinking a going bad thermostat, coolant temp sensor or both. Car is bone stock, 2005 with 73k miles.

What temp are the radiator fans supposed to kick on? I think it's 195f or maybe 200f. It's easy to check if your thermostat is working. After driving give the upper rad hose a light squeeze. Careful it's hot, it should feel firm.

those temperatures look normal to me if you're just idling, I believe the fans come on at 200-205?
00-05 IAT sensor is inside the intake manifold so the readings are generally high

Moved my 04 MY- IAT to the same place as later S2000s supposedly more ignition advance.
fact or crap ?

Is the sluggishness only at low engine speeds?

I have an ultraguage obd2 monitor on display so I always know my IAT and ECT. I usually sit around 113 IAT and 183 ECT cruising. Idling will sit around 120-140/ 190-200. I try to avoid heavy stop-and-go traffic as the temps just rise and I get bad heat soak.
