yea i had a mechanic listen to the car and he also thinks i spun a rod. Ive been trying to get a hold of the guy i bought the car from but guess what... he doesn't answer his phone anymore. I would do the work myself no problem. so 2000 for a new block? what else would i need added on to that? would it be a fullly assembled block or what? I feel like an idiot becuase i had new oil at my house and before i drove off i remebr thinking "i'll change its oil after i get back tommorrow morning" man.... depressing...

Might not have mattered if you would have put oil in it before. Surely there was damage already done.

how good of deal did you get on the car? When you started the car up before you actually ran it did you ever hear anything? If it knocks but only above 2k then im pretty sure its a rod bearing and that knocking will start to happen more often. If you can afford it I would say build it with low comp and save for a turbo. Sucks man, I would DEF be on the phone with the guy you bought it from.

the car ran and started no problem before. Also one thing that happened a day before this happened is i took a turn very ummm well quick (it was coming home from discount tires with my new rpf1 and hankook rs2 tire) and as soon as i was done taking the turn the car died. It started right up but i just thought it was weird. I was thinking about the low comp thing but in truth i just want to get the thing moveing. I was looking into the j racing 2.2l stroker kit if anyone has any insight on that.

Let me add the cheapest route for this is to get a used block. You didn't mention your MY but since oil consumption is involved F20C is my guess. A new block is $2000 which is relatively good price. If you do all the work you can make it work from $1000-3000 depending on the condition of the block, assuming you head is healthy which it should be. The dealer will charge around $8000-10000 for the whole job.
When i got water in my motor in my Ap2 i got all new motor i only reuse my heads but i got it redone and it came to be about 8500 from the dealer

You dont need a new block if you spun a bearing...

That's true, but what are the chances that it's only a spun bearing. I mean running your engine on 1 quart, I'm guessing some of his bores might be scored too from improper lubrication. But yea, I would do a leak down to see if it is indeed only a spun bearing.
