The brake lines are held in place by those yellow clips, so in theory they should not touch anything else.
Maybe dirt accumulated over time creating a nest for salt to do its thing.
Next week I'll have pictures.
My plan is to not replace - based on what I've seen the day of the test - but de-rust (lightly!) and coat with rust inhibitor / product that changes rust into whatever bla bla bla.
I sure hope it stays that way after an up close & personal inspection.

My friends s2k had endured a number of salty upstate NY winters, and the fuel line, fuel return line, and both rear brake lines were toast. The fuel line was scariest. It started leaking the second I touched it where it had flaky rusy metal by the charcoal cannister.
That IS where my rusted brake lines are.... Ohhh NOooo!
Hope for the best - fingers crossed.

What about using a product like Por 15? Supposedly neutralizes rusts and acts as a primer/cover to prevent further loss.

That is very rare on an s2k. Its not like a Ford that rusts out in a few years, and I mean really bad. In 25 years of working on cars, I feel the s2k is one of the best corrosion protected cars ever made. Unlike my chevy luv pickup

A little coat of boeshield or marine 6-56 does wonders for stopping this dead in its tracks. A properly treated car will never rust.

I had a jet ski that I ran in salt water for many years. After each ride, the engine would get a coating of marine 6-56.

Even after many years, the engine looked as if it was never in the water. all the chrome acorn nuts and the entire engine looked brand new.

Would it be safe to use this stuff on parts that have already started to rust?

Also, is this a good lube for ball joints/axle boots?

I have to respectfully (< - as always) disagree.
The chassis itself may be ok, but I have had - over the years - some rust issues.
Ranging from seized suspension bolts, rusted rear fenders to the brake lines.

You're right: a propery protected car does not rust but how far should an owner go in extra rust protection?
Should your first drive in the car, right of the showroom floor, be onto a hoist and then open up a can of rust protection stuff?
It also depends on the enviroment you're using the car in.
But where does the adapting to this - by the user - ends?

When it comes to alignment bolts and brake lines I was expecting a bit more from Honda.
Or maybe I should not complain after 12 years....

A seized alignment bolt is a pain in the you know what.
A rusted brake line could be scary or fatal.

Next week I'll try Noverox, a rust neutralizer.
I bought a 55 gallon drum of it.. that should do the job right ?

Edit: added the <- to make it all clear without a doubt.

More like GDM: G for German.
Or DDM: D for Deutsche.
