Josh is right about the shudder, caused by the pitting on the inside of the cups being a more common problem and related less to hard driving... as opposed the broken dog-ring that sits on the splines at the end of the axle. This also could be caused by the pits in the cups causing a severe amount of lash. When this lash gets taken up in a hard launch, it impacts the dog-bone-ring-spline thingy which cracks it. (technical language!)
Either way, I think most owners don't have to worry about a catastophic failure, but keeping tabs on vibration (axles) and clicking (bearings) is a good idea.
We force these failures with our racing abuse, especially in ProSolo launches and it took 2 years and countless launches to cause a failure.

after lowering my rear ride height few days hence, acceleration/cornering vibration became noticably worse.
that would be relatively diagnostic for inner CV due to increase in halfshaft angulation?? but i also just before added 4.44 diff gears??related?
