So if I want to go with the ACT + OEM plate combo, does hardtopguy sells it too?

You can do some tests before going out and spending your hard earned money on a new clutch.

1. Drive down a clear stretch of road (going up hill if possible). (Don't get caught speeding! ) I would suggest 2nd gear. Have clutch fully released and once you get up to about 4000 rpm, floor it. If it slips, you'll know it.
2. Drive along with noone behind you. Try to hold it at about 4500 rpm at a safe speed and then begin to brake moderately. Hold the throttle steady to fight the action of the brakes. Do the rpms tend to drop with the slowing down of the car? If is does, your clutch is likely OK.

There is nothing wrong with the OEM clutch parts. Many, many owners have driven a very long way on the original clutch. If you feel you must get a new clutch and money is an issue, then just get the OEM parts from someone like HTguy or the forum marketplace. Ask for shipping to Canada NOT with UPS or your savings will be gone.

The ACT HD pressure plate is the way to go, but it's not required. Get OEM or ACT HD PP, TO bearing, OEM clutch disc. Be prepared to have the existing flywheel sent out to get machined or buy a new OEM flywheel for a little more money. A great part of the expense will be to do the work. You may as well spend a little more and put all the right stuff in there while it's all apart.

The car can always just limp around for a while, but no cold beer? Well, that's just the end of the universe as we know it.

xviper: I will try out the tests you suggested...but just in case if I need to replace it, do you mean TO bearing from ACT too?

No, ACT provides the heavy duty pressure plate (recommended but not absolutely required). ACT also makes a "re-worked" OEM clutch disc. Again, not absolutely required. OEM for disc, TO bearing and flywheel (if you want to go this route instead of machining the one you've got).

To spend the least amount of money get the OEM disc, PP, TO and machine the flywheel.
To get the most popular combination, get the Hardtopguy "kit" that substitutes the PP with the ACT one and includes the Comptech lightweight flywheel.
Go to his site and add different combinations up to see what you're dealing with. I've just ordered the "kit". It's just under $1000.00 US. The CT flywheel may be on back order.

The flywheel should be re-surfaced due to un-even wear and or hot spots, or burn marks. (check marks) Screw the CT flywheel, just get yours re-surfaced.

No, the whole kit is under $1000.00. The CT flywheel, if bought by itself, is $479.00.
