you should have put a flange on both he stock exhaust and the new one so if you ever need to take it back to stock for any reason you can just bolt the stock one back on! thats what i did

You're almost local to me and I just threw away a stocker exhaust. I like that home made single.

here's a pic of the one i made i didnt put the skid plate on till a bit after but you'll kinda get the idea why it wont scrape unless your totally bottoming out the suspension in which case your probably damaging more than just the exhaust...

the thing is if you flanged it where you cut it i believe it comes near the axle line meaning if you going over a bump the exhaust would travel with the car too so it wont get stuck. but just for reassurance i made a skid plate on the flange for mine.
