Default My crank pulley was tq'd on by GOD himself

181 ft pounds my ass.

I'm pushing it. Hard. I even did a superman move and tried bracing a foot on the wall behind me. I consider myself a pretty strong guy and even with a 6 ft cheater pipe on a 2ft 1/2 inch breaker bar with the Moroso tool holding on the other side braced against the car, it would not give.

Needless to say its still on the car and I've given up. Oh well.

Anyone got any good war stories with this thing?

Honda's are famous for this. You have to impact the hell out of them sometimes.

jump kick that sumb*tch. "shock" is better than slow motion...just make sure the damn thing is seated properly. better get, one guy hold it seated/put little pressure, other guy jump kicks. just make sure you hvae a bed or something for him to fall into (:

The breakaway torque to loosen the crank bolts are always much higher than the installed torque.

Man up, get on the other side of the car and pull it, not push it.

I've seen 145lb service techs not have problem

which direction does our engine rotate? In all the other cars I've touched the crank pulley on I just stick my wrench on the end, turn the crank or wrench until its braced up against something sturdy, and then bump the starter real fast (you will hear the bolt pop loose, and you're not trying to start the engine) to spin the crank pulley bolt out. Works every time.

the crank pulley bolt on my civic was giving me the same problems, until i got a giant impact wrench at a DIY garage shop who also had a compressor big enough to get the max torque out of the thing. I found that it also helped that i drove the car to the shop, and the engine actually heated up the bolt itself and im fairly certain that this had something to do with it budging. maybe try to get some heat into it!
