Default my CEL is on

I was on the way to school driving normally and all of a sudden i look at my gauge cluster and see that i'm throwing a CEL. I don't know what I did. I took it to autozone and had them read the CEL they said that it was a P0420. they said i had a leak or something, or something is wrong with my cat converter. I am running no test pipe. I called my friend who is a mechanic and he looked stuff up and it was my catylitic converter. I don't know why it would throw a check engine light though. The only thing i've ever done to the cat or anything close to it, was when I put the intercooler in. I took out a hose that led to this little machine that led to my cat. its on the rightside inside my bumper. but all i did to it was take off the hose that led from the pipe that connected the comptech air box and my throttlebody. I cut it off and put a little air filter in its place. so basically its this filter then this machine then it leads to my cat. so i'm not sure. please help. i will put pictures when i take off the bumper

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold

Your cats probably going. Its covered by a 7/75k warrenty, but the FI might have lost that for you.

Take it to Honda and see if they say you need a new cat. Go from there. Cats are expensive. All else fails go test pipe.

If your Air Pump (the gold thing with hose) had a problem one of the following CEL's would appear:

DTC P0410 : Air Pump Circuit Malfunction
DTC P1410 : Air Pump Malfunction
DTC P1415 : Air Pump Electrical Current Sensor Low Voltage
DTC P1416 : Air Pump Electric Sensor Circuit High Voltage
