Default My car seems sluggish at low rpm

I still can't figure out why my s feels so sluggish! I can stomp on the petal and the car doesn't pull at all until I hit about 3.5k rpm and that's when I feel the car take off a bit and then vtec really takes off. If I'm just cruising along at 4k rpm and I stomp on the petal, that's when I can actually feel my body push back into my seat.

What could possibly be causing this? My car also lugs while going at really low speeds in traffic(around 5 mph)

It's a 2002 with 77k miles on it if that makes any difference

You need to top up vtec fluid.

Every 2l s2k is like that. Everything is gutless under 3k and struggles to go up hills because all the powerband is up top, you'll notice most other non sporty 2l na cars are perfectly driveable between 1-4k but the power drops off after 5-6k because their powerband is all in the low-mid range.

Sounds normal to me, don't stomp on it under 4k rpms as the there is little power available. Shift around 4-5k when you drive this car.

Hmm, I guess that explains why my car can never take off from a stop very quickly. My automatic takes off from a stop quicker than my s2000. Just didn't seem normal to me.

Heat soak is also a factor in this, I'm sure you've noticed it picks up better at night or in cooler temps compared to a stop and go hot afternoon. Like the others said shift around 4k or higher it'll feel less sluggish
