Default My car is overheating

Hey guys I have a question. I was driving on the freeway yesterday and I had the AC on when it just stopped blowing cold air, I looked at everything and didn't see anything but then I noticed my temp gauge was showing 4 bars instead of the normal 3 (ap1). It was about 110 deg outside and I have an intercooler on my car (not turbo had to take it off to get smogged) when I turned the AC off the temp went back down to 3 bars, is this normal since it was so hot outside and I have the intercooler which might be blocking more air from getting to the radiator?

Go check the coolant level in the radiator on a cold engine.

Sticking thermostat? Air bubble in the coolant?

AC places an extra load on the engine which creates more heat. 110 deg is really freaking hot. I wouldn't drive my car if it was over 90, but I live in the northeast.

I wouldn't say your car is overheating, just running a bit warmer then you are use too. Not sure what you mean by an "intercooler" for a non FI car... Are you talking about one of those "intercooler" looking intakes?
Blocking the radiator doesn't help but when you are running the AC there is a heat exchanger coupled up with the radiator so seeing a slight rise when the AC is on shouldn't be a surprise on a hot day and it makes sense that when you shut it off it dropped, you aren't using the AC heat exchanger so it doesn't add heat or steal the cool air before it reaches the radiator.

No I mean an intercooler, like I said I was turbo but I tok the turbo kit off but left the intercooler caused I had it locktighted in but its not hooked up to anything at the moment. Hopefully it was just happening because it was really hot outside and there is nothing wrong, we'll see.

so you just have a intercooler up front with nothing connected to it? maybe it was blocking air into the radiator?

When my car was doing this it was the A/C fan that was not kicking on when my AC was on. Check that.
