Default My baby is not well. Doctor help me..

Well this is my problem; when I drive at whatever speed and shift to neutral the idle stays at 1500rpm and stays there until I stop at the next traffic light when it drops to zero and the engine dies. Also the check engine light is on and the engine can rev high but with hesitation something like lintant cut off. Finally in the morning when start the engine it does not always go to 2k as usual, but lower. Honda dealer says that is the potentiometer on the other side of the map sensor on the throttle body with a cost of 700.00 Euro plus VAT!!!

Any suggestions?

Regards

Dimitris

The dealer is referring to the TPS or throttle position sensor. It is a potentiometer. It is only sold with a throttle body. They have failed before on other cars. Replacing the failed sensor is the only repair.

The sensor is installed with tamper proof screws. You can cut the screws off, and remove the sensor. If you can find another Honda throttle body of the same vintage, you can swap the sensors. You have to reset the position of the sensor using a volt meter.
