Default Mushy brake pedal

hey y'all.
So, I've had my S for about 3 months now. I've noticed since DAY 1 that the pedal kinda feels mushy and about 1/3 pedal effort is required to engage the brakes...with stock pads. I've never driven another S to compare, so I'm not sure if this is the normal effort required for the 2001 model. As a comparison, my father's 2005 TL engages quicker and with less effort. (of course, the S brakes alot harder.)

I do plan on completely flushing the fluid soon. But, before I start I want to know if what my pedal feels like is pretty much normal.
(i have 40K on the clock, and I'm not sure when they were last flushed, if at all.)

TIA!

Maybe you should. We can't tell by your description. What you consider "mushy" may not be our interpretation.

Since you bought a used car and may not know its maintenance history, this is always a good plan. You should be changing most of the fluids anyway unless you know for sure when they were done.

As a GENERAL comparison, does the 2001 S2000 have a stiffer/more responsive brake pedal compared to most cars on the market???

No. The brake pedal on the S feels very similar to those on my Vettes, Viper, Stealth. In fact it's only moderately firmer than my PT Cruiser, my old Civic. It even feels similar to my kid's new Mustang. Having said this, I'm still not certain that this helps you.

I bought my S used with 50,xxx miles and my brake pedal felt soft, then I flushed the brake fluid and it feels a lot nicer.

Gotta flush the clutch fluid too...I'm doing that when I put in my comptech flywheel and act pressure plate.
