Well I finally got mine done!
Although it's with a variation of Jason's original idea.
A tip for those who are planning to do this. Use the black bumper coating for the primer. A lighter primer might leave an underlying "edge" showing after you pull up the tape.
Being the lemming I'm not, I decided a different approach for the mod. I'd like to thank Jason for the idea.
All that "orange" with the OEM lens was killin' my eyes!

I should be throwing in my mulderized diffusers in in two weeks or so. Can't wait. Have had them sitting around waiting to go in for a while now.

So I painted my deffusers (i had an extra pair from a friend) and they were sitting on my desk and I think the cleaning lady moved em and they have a scuff on them, do you guys think I should tape off have the diffuser and repaint it (if so do i need to sand it all the way down to plastic and reprime and then paint again?) or could i use a high grit (like 1500) and sand down the area and respray with the top coat? Urg I really dont want to retape the whole diffuser again, that was just a big long time drain...
I can try to take a picture but I really dont think it will show, its only in certain light that it shows up. Thanks for anyones help!

I'm in the middle of this process currently. I finally got the diffusers out after lots of "firm but gentle" prying and cursing.
I'm finding that my Modifry pry tools are EXCELLENT investments, and one in particular is useful for the taping process.
Any advice on the taping?
UPDATE: I am finding that a spare dental pick/explorer is VERY useful while doing the razor cleanup on the tape. It can get in there and pick off the small pieces in crevices, as well as start the separation of the tape once you've sliced it.
