I agree. You will end up:

A. melting the plastic

or

B. over sanding, causing loss of detail and possibly uneven surfaces

All you want to do is score the surface slightly so that it will hold the base coat, anything more than that and you are ruining them.

Don't be lazy guys.... and don't cut corners. If anyone doesn't want to put the time and work into them to do them right, send them to me and I will do them for you.... for a fee ofcourse
LOL, you all see right through me. Not trying to cut corners, just wondering if there is a faster way of doing the sanding. I will definitely pick up some sandpaper and give it a try though.

Just do your taping, sit down infront of the your favorite show on TV and sand away!

Why do you need a faster way?

It only takes a couple minutes each to do this

Anything is faster with a tool, right?

Great post Mulder. Very in-depth, I appreciate it all! Not sure if I will try this or not yet, just bought my AP2, but if I do, this is the way to go! Thanks again!

I'm thinking about doing the headlights but smoking the exposed amber so it lights up like a mulderized light but looks like a smoked diffuser. What do you guys think?

I thought about it... I really like that look. There is a guy who said he did it, but he claimed that is screwed up how this bulbs projected light... then he said that he didn't have them adjusted properly. I don't know how that turned out. Might be worth researching.

I say do it! Be a pioneer like Mulder... maybe one day someone will say "I'm gonna do the Castanza AP1 headlight mod... It looks sweet!"
