I just had my Mugen header installed not too long ago and I dyno'd before and after on Ultimate Lurker's dynapack last weekend.

I don't have the actual dyno photo but here my peak gains in the midrange:

'02 S2000 (no other mods, 6K on the odometer). These are my numbers from the second run in each dyno, throwing out the first #. My second # with the Mugen header actually increased rather than the first run.

----------------------------------------------------

8381 rpm - Stock peak HP: 219.342 (corrected)
6548 rpm - Stock peak TQ: 141.403

----------------------------------------------------

8327 rpm - w/Mugen Header peak HP : 221.514 (corrected)
6606 rpm - w/Mugen Header peak TQ : 149.52

----------------------------------------------------

8324 rpm Reset ECU w/Mugen Header peak HP: 222.088 (corrected)
6587 rpm Reset ECU w/Mugen Header peak TQ: 151.273

----------------------------------------------------

6606 rpm - Stock vs Mugen Header biggest HP gain: 9.72 hp (corrected)
6522 rpm - Stock vs Mugen Header biggest TQ gain: 8.502 lb/ft

----------------------------------------------------

6615 rpm - Stock vs MH w/reset ECU biggest HP gain: 12.087 hp (corrected)
6496 rpm - Stock vs MH w/reset ECU biggest TQ gain: 10.851 lb/ft

----------------------------------------------------

I can't speak on behalf of the other headers but if you want midrange, Mugen is the way to go!

Nope, those numbers were based on my stock car before the header and after. The third one was just resetting the ECU. However, I just picked up a used Mugen exhaust yesterday so I'll test that during the next dyno day.

Good job sevnt4. Since I have pretty much the same mods as you now, I can just tell everyone that I gained the same. Hehe. Dude, congrats on the Mugen exhaust. Keep me posted after you dyno it again with the combo.

whew... that's pretty incredible... I'm wondering what the Toda can pull, since it claims to be the best...

If you are going to include results before / after a mod, you should really reset the ECU before your baseline (stock) pull. Your stock setup would have given better results with a reset ECU as well.

I believe that's why he quoted the Mugen numbers before and after the reset. The ECU was fully acclimated to the header as he'd had it on for awhile. We just wanted to see if there was any significant difference with a reset. There wasn't (1% isn't significant).

UL,

It seems like the ECU reset gains are significant when compared to the gains of the header. The ECU reset gains look to be about 20% as large as the gains from the header. The header may result in the ECU learning to compensate for it a bit, which may eventually reduce its "learned" gains.

Since a non-fresh ECU will have unknown timing curves and air / fuel ratios, it seems that every before / after comparison should be done with a reset ECU.

Stu, I'd say it'd be interesting if you dyno'd yours now with the combo since we pretty much have the same thing once you get rid of your AEM and go back to stock. Remember, air freshners don't count as mods

Yes, but in this case, the peak _hp_ gains from the header are also bordering on insignificant.

The Dynapack guarantees repeatability to within +/- 0.3%. So, in the case of a 220whp car, we're looking at a max variance of a little over 1 hp. The differential before and after the ECU reset is only 0.5 peak hp, which is well within the range. Also, if you were to look at the torque curve, you'd notice that the max differential occurs at the post VTEC torque spike.
