Default Mugen Header with stock Muffler

What kind of improvement in performance can I expect with the Mugen header with my stock exhaust? I want more torque but do not want all the noise, how reasonable is this?

Would I have to re-tune anything?

Rick,

I have this combo on my car. Tuning would get you more power (VAFC), but it isn't necessary. You can expect another 4-5 lbs-ft of torque from 3k-7k. From 7k-8k its about the same as stock, and then the power falls off a little faster than normal after the power peak.

Oh, is it louder than stock or the same?

There's a bit of a tinnier tone coming from under the hood since the header walls are thinner, but in general its no louder. You'd have to know what to listen for to realize the car isn't stock.

If I had the header wrapped or coated would this tone it down even more?

Mugen header was my first mod, and I immediately noticed a slightly louder - though not bothersome - tone from the engine. It is the only aftermarket header that comes w/ a heat shield, so wrapping or coating is not necessary...unless of course, you want to leave the heat shield off.

the louder tinnier tone from Engine seems to be a characteristic of all the aftermarket header, my buddy's car started making the same tone when Spoon header was installed.
