Mugen ECU vs. Spoon ECU ?

Mugen ECU vs. Spoon ECU ?
There has been some discussion on this board as to the advantages of using the Mugen ECU but has anyone compared it to the Spoon ECU. Is one better than the other?( Let's not start a Mugen vs. Spoon war here) Does anyone really have Knowledge of both or expierience with both.

I've driven a car running Mugen ECU/Manifold/Exhaust, and also one running Spoon ECU/Manifold. Different power bands - the Spoon is biased toward high rpm gains, while the Mugen aims to fill out the midrange more.
It's a question of what powerband you're after more than anything else. There isn't a choice between the ECU's - you need to match the ECU to the manifold, so which manifold you pick, choses the ECU for you, if you chose to go down the fixed, mapped drop in replacement.

When I was looking for one I learned that the mugen one is a completely different ecu and the spoon one is a stock one with a spoon chip... And I know Mugen ones have been dyno'd to show gains but not to many people have the spoon one so I haven't seen a dyno... Thats about the extent of my knowlege on the subject...

I finally got the answer to this question. The Spoon gives you an improvment over stock in the top end, where the Mugen gives you an improvment on the low and mid range.

I finally decided also that im going with the Mugen setup since it gives low end power/torque which in my opinion is what the car really needs. Thanks for all the help

unlike the dyno's we've seen from the mugen ecu on stock cars, or ones just with their headers, I have yet to see a dyno plot of a spoon ecu on a stock or header equipped car. Hoping to see one.
