Motul Motorcycle Oil 10w-30
I have read some decent posts about Motul Oil and was considering trying it out on my next change. A friend of mine told me that a Honda Motorcycle shop near me carried it. First off I have gone to Bartels Harley Davidson for Redline oils so dont respond "why are you going to a bike shop for oil" some do carry specialized oils. Anywho...I get there and all they have is Motul 10w-30 specifically for bikes. I asked the a sales guy what the difference between bike oil and car oil and he told me there are additives designed to help the cluch in bikes. He said it WOULDN'T HURT my car if I put it in the my engine. Well all of us know that even Honda techs don't know it all so thats why i came here. Any of you oil specialists know if this would work for the car or not? Thanks.

I was just searching the web for motul oil, and they have a 8100 series 5w-30 for auto use. I would probley not use motorcycle oil in a car. But you could post this over at bobistheoilguy.com. They have a big data base. and is a good place to learn about motor oil.

Is there a reason why you'd want to do this, rather than go with an oil that's been used by someone around here? Is it just because it's Motul?
I'm a little confused, not being a bike guy, but what does the motor oil have to do with the clutch (something the sales guy said)?
Maybe try to talk to a Motul representative. That's what I'd try to do.

Interesting! Well, that alone could account for some different formulation in a motorcycle lube...
That said, the service manual says it should have an API certification seal and the SAE viscosity is as you guys know it should be either 10W-30 or 5W-40 for colder temps...

So, you came here to the forum led by a Honda tech. way to get on the mods good side....I agree with ek9, check out the specs. I have talked with techs at the Yamaha dealer here and they say that oil is oil. For example, the Yamalube that Yamaha recommends isn't any diffferent than any other oil. It's just marketing and I would expect it's the same with the motul.

That was probably take out of context. I meant dealer service techs. No offense to the mods but there are tons of stories about how service techs dont use the right gear oil, or rotate the tires. etc, etc. That kind of thing. Again no offense to mods.
