Default Motor Swap Question.

I apologize in advance. I searched and could not find the information I was looking for. Flame suit is on.

My motor dropped a valve at 39,000 miles (No over-rev, had the gopro on my helmet when it dropped) and I now have a new one to swap in.

What expendables will I need? Just coolant and oil?

Are there any special order parts I'm going to have to replace when swapping in the identical motor.

And are there any write up's/pichar threads?

Thanks a bunch guys!

I did my swap almost by my self. I would drop the engine from the bottom of the car with the subframe attached. Jack the car as high as you can using jackstands and maybe some 2x4. There is 3 main bolts that hold the subframe to the frame. Pm me if you have more questions

Any other information members could provide would be fantastic.

Looking forward to finally having the S back on the road and on the Dragon.

I just swapped in a AP2 into my 03 last weekend, oil, oil filter, almost 2 gallons of ready to use coolant, resurfaced fly wheel, clutch, throw out bearing, and pilot bearing was all I needed. Special tools you will need is 24 mm deep socket to remove the knock sensor easily, torque wrench(do the loan a tool at Auto Zone), socket extensions(24", 12", and a couple of shorter ones at least), clutch alignment tool, a piece of pipe about 3 to 4 feet long to use as a breaker bar(make sure the handle of your ratchet will slide into the pipe, and I recommend a 1/2" ratchet for use with the breaker bar), floor jack, jack stands that will allow you to get the car about 2 feet off the ground, and an engine hoist. I took my engine out the top after separating the transmission. Wasn't hard at all, but I have a 2 ton engine hoist that has a really long reach. If you buy a hoist/lift make sure you can extend the reach at least 48". The nose of the S2000 is so long anything shorter will not have enough reach to pick/drop the engine straight up and down. I followed the directions in the service manual. Bagged all of my bolts and fasteners in zip lock bags as I went. I started on Friday afternoon and was finished by Sunday at lunch. Could have finished Saturday night if I had pressed through the heat of the day on Saturday. All in all, it was not too hard of a job, just time consuming.
