naw actually it is. had it done at a shop. i actually got 13 additional whp and 6lbs of torque with just the vafc and a cai. i know the point of a race cat is to run richer to get those few "potential" hp, but with the vafc, i think its runnin too rich, causing the car to be slower. i can feel the car and it doesn't pull as hard as it used to
Richer=less hp but safer

Leaner=more hp but more risk for detonation etc.

More air=more power, more fuel=more safety

????

richer = lower air/fuel ratio
leaner = higher air/fuel ratio, therefore, more air = lean condition

Nope. The point is to have less exhaust back preasure therefore allowing the engine to breath better...the more air it can take in (and of course put out) the more power your engine can theoretically make.

Before anything else, you need to get your car retuned; I am sure that is where your problem lies.

Leaner equals a higher A/F ratio and will create additional power up until the point of excessive detonation. This mixture burns a lot hotter than a rich condition. A rich condition means more fuel for the same amount of air (or the same amount of fuel for less air) and is a safer condition due to lower temps.

very interesting. thnx didnt know that ....but yea when i first had the car dynoed and tuned.... i was pushin about 193 hp and i forgot how many lbs of torque at the wheels with just a AEM CAI and a APEXi VAFC. i later added the veilside single exhaust with a T1r race cat. thats when i started having the problems. could it be that the addition of the exhaust system and race cat affected the VAFC's tuning??

Definitely, both of these will greatly effect how the engine breathes. I'd set your AFC to zeros across the board and leave it like that until you get it retuned.

if i continue to drive the car the way it is now (slower and running crappy)...would it be a risk with the the exhaust and race cat aburptly affecting the way the car breathes? or am i safe?

Obviously the car is running like crap, set your AFC to zero (for the 3rd time) and let the ECU use the stock fuel maps. It won't be perfect for your setup, but much better than a poor tune.
