mods on my car....but slower than stock?
for some reason my car is running slower than a stock one. i have a tuned vafc, T1r race cat with a veilside exhaust, and a cold air intake. the car is running pretty rich right now. could this be the cause. also, any suggestions on what to do. thnx

naw actually it is. had it done at a shop. i actually got 13 additional whp and 6lbs of torque with just the vafc and a cai. i know the point of a race cat is to run richer to get those few "potential" hp, but with the vafc, i think its runnin too rich, causing the car to be slower. i can feel the car and it doesn't pull as hard as it used to

sensation of acceleration is not always to do with the actual power/torque your engine gives.. one reason why CVT's are not much fun to drive.

Get it dyno'ed to see what you're putting down, if lost of hp/tq were felt then it will show on the graph when dyno'ed. While the S is in motion it does tend to make people think that it's running slower versus riding in another equal or faster car but it's actually faster or as fast, hope that makes sense. I would get it dyno'ed if I were you, that's my opinion.

The other thing to consider is that although a "tuned" Vafc will work initially, it has been said throughout this forum that the Vafc reset's itself via the ECU trying to correct itself. Not sure how much truth there is to this really, as I don't think from what I have read anyone has actually proven this. If you run a search under "vafc" you find some info regarding this BUT before you do that I would consider booking another dyno session to see where your at.

Another possibility is that if you've added a lot of power before the VTEC crossover, the changeover wont be as abrupt, so it "feels" like you lost power, when in reality you've just added a lot more before VTEC to make the transition smoother.
