Thumbs down Mobil1 in short supply

I went out last night to get some oil for my first oil change and Mobil1's 5w-30 is practically impossible to find. No one had any gallon jugs, not even Walmart, and the only quarts I could find were $7 each.
Apparently Mobil's synthetic production plant was damaged in one of the recent hurricanes which has led to the growing shortage. They're hoping to be back online by the end of the year. Just thought I'd pass that along to everyone.

Just as an FYI, the oil recommended in the owner's manual is 10w30.

I'm sure 5w30 is fine but if they are out, I would pick up the 10w30.

There's some conjecture in the TCT thread that Mobil 1 may be causing premature TCT failures.

i went with the mobil1 because i've personally always had good luck with it. I read through the giant oil post comparing the brands and thought about amsoil and castrol but decided to go on personal experience. As for the 5w-30, without making this incredibly long winded, a good number of people on here use 5w-30 (not as many as 10w-30 though), my mechanic recommended it, and from what i've read at cold start it will be more fluid than a 10w which means reduced wear on the engine.
