I measured four pleats side by side, divided the number by 4. Counted pleats 3-4 time just to make sure, and the height was between the top cap and the bottom cap.

Sorry, my explanation wasnt clear. I measured four pleats length, then divided by 4 to get less measurment error per pleat. Its as close as possible without pulling ALL the pleats and measuring the entire thing, which might be WORSE, since now its going to deform if you give it slack, stretch fi you tighten it.
