Mobil 1 is NOT truly synth, it meets the performance specifications for synthetic oil set after Castrol won a lawsuit saying their dino oil was as good as synth.

It's like Angus beef isn't really angus beef.

There are only a few oils left with a synthetic base. Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple are the only ones I know of that all their synthetic oils really are synthetic.

Extended Performance is full Synthetic.

[QUOTE]
Q: Does the Mobil 1 Extended Performance meet GF-4 specifications? How did the new specification impact the development of the high-endurance product line?

A: Mobil 1 Extended Performance contains an extra performance additive to help deliver exceptional performance and protection. This fully synthetic technology is designed specifically for longer service intervals. Appropriate viscosities of Mobil 1 Extended Performance also meet all the requirements for GF-4.

Are you running the 5/30 or 10/30?

Wasn't the Mobil 1 Extended Performance originally sold as oil that would go 15,000 between oild changes?

I could see this as being a reality. My last oil analysis on my Nissan Frontier was at a 8,000 mile interval. The results showed a TBN of 3.0 with 1.0 being the limit. So the oil was fine, I should have just replaced the filter.
