Mobil 1 = higher idle

Respectfully, not sure what's more pathetic, the question, or some of the answers given.
Mobil1 is a fine oil. I don't understand the paranoia about it being a bad oil, or the fact that it blows up chain tensioners.... now one's supposed to reset the ECU after changing oil with it? I've run M1 for most of the car's life, and nearly at 100k my tensioner and everything else is running strong.. what's the deal?
Credibility on this site is going down fast.

Your car is normal - worry about something else. Let me give you something more to worry about. Mobil 1 changed their formula a few years ago, and after a big court case with Valvoline, were allowed to re-write the specifications for "Synthetic Oil" so Mobil 1 could be listed as a true "Synthetic". I used Mobil 1 for many years, but not after they altered their formula.

I use Mobil-1 and have confidence in it. It has been my choice in the several Vette's I've owned in the past and remains my choice in my current S and for that matter, any car I may own in the future.
If I didn't feel this way and harbored any doubts, I'd switch to something else. There is no reason for anyone to accept any product as the best including Mobil-1. There are many other fine synthetics to choose from ,all very capable and worthy of your consideration as the "go-to" lubrication for your car.

SgtB, I (and the original poster) were thinking it was the other side of the coin ... a thicker oil, or one with poorer cold-flow properties, would be a heavier drag on the motor and prevent the engine from reaching its target idle speed.

2k idle in the cold is totally Normal.
Been running Mobil1 and Penzoil Platinum for 124k miles with daily trips to 9k. Still on my first tensioner and my engine hasn't bloweded up.

I run Mobil 1 10-30 and every morning when I start my car it idles at 2kish. I always wait till the temp bar get 2 full bars then go on my way. By the time I get out of my neighborhood its fully warmed up. Perfectly normal, no worries bud....
