Mixing oil
Hey,
If you run engine for 10k miles (fully synthetic) then put a small amount of semi synth in then would it affect the engine? Even if they are the same 10w40 etc.
Thanks,
Nick

It's ok for a short period and will do no harm. The main problem when mixing any oil with another brand is that you may lose the benefits of the additives that each oil company adds to their branded oil. Since these are propritary, it's mixing the additives that may negate benefits and not the oil. IMO, definatly no big deal for a short period of time to mix oils and if it were me, Id probably do a change within the next 500miles. Purely arbritrary since there is no exact answer.

Make sure the cooling system is working properly before you pop a new one in there. My cooling system is not working properly right now...damn fan switch is dead but I run the AC constantly to kick the fans on.
just my 2cents!

i read on mobile1 site (i think) that it's ok to mix same number but different brand together...but i personally wouldn't...and i don't think it would do any damage at all...maybe after a long period of time...if you keep doing it...couple years!!! maybe?
