yea flywheel teeth are only used when the car is started. So what your saying is you missed a gear and kept trying to put it in there hence why you keep bouncing it off the rev limiter 3 times? Could be synchros not catching up at the time. If it happens all the time in every gear it would be the clutch or synchros. If it happened this one time I wouldnt be worried about trying to swap things out. Your right you didnt do a mechanical over rev thats only on down shift.

Flywheel teeth can be seen in the small window between the motor and trans.

But that defnitely isn't your problem.

I think the motor is fine... and i were you, i would stop freaking out and start pulling the tranny out BEFORE i buy any parts.

sounds like you just want to replace everything people say it might broke, but just to save you money and time. take the tranny out first and go from there....

If you've discussed it with a "honda guru" why would you care what a bunch of dumbasses (with a couple of exceptions) on the Internet think?

S2000 is not your regular Honda so any tom dick and harry who has worked on a million Hondas would not have a clue about S2000. I have seen people with big a** tuning shops claiming they know S2000 inside out failing on diagnosing the most simple basic problems on S2000.

Like everyone else said, just take your transmission out, see what is going on in there and just go from there.

I say take your car to the dealership. It'll be cover through warranty.
"Just take it and go". You'll probably get a new clutch, fly-wheel, starter or heck a new motor and tranny.

lol my car is way out of warranty at 65k miles. even if i had warranty my car is modded to the max anyway. im going to see this transmission place during lunch to see how much they charge to drop it down. again i would do it but i go no time at all right now to deal with it nor even a place to do it at.
