Agreed, sounds like you just need some piece of mind, so why not achieve it while doing something productive.

Lets say you maxed out the revs to 8200, and grabbed 2nd gear, hitting 9700.

You have another 1000 rpm to go before you have piston to valve contact.

Retainers can withstand at least 11000.

You are good to go.

A valve adjustment is always a good idea, ESPECIALLY if you have an 06-09 s2k. I have been finding them with tight valves 25% of the time.

I have never found tight valves on an 04-05, making them the most reliable year cars.
