Default Missfire

Hi

IVe got a 1999 s2000, 13k. over the last 500 miles the engine seems to have picked up a nasty series of missfires. It is due a service but i think this is something more than a service issue. the oil has always been kept topped up, i checked the spark plugs 1000miles ago.

it occurs gently/less frequently below vtec, but in vtec it seems to consistently missfire and only hit full power for 1/10 of the range from 6-8krpm

please help me, i miss the vtec power.

Make sure your plugs are torqued to spec.

Do a search on MAP sensor, it is the most common cause of high rpm misses. Easy fix is to just whack it.

You can if it makes you feel better (~$45 US) but they get stuck occasionally and a rap seems to fix it for the season.
