Missed shift question
Hi I was driving my car today, 2004 s2k, and going from second to 3rd I missed 3rd all together, I was reving to around 6500-7000, is this considered an over rev, when I missed the shift it revved up not sure to what though. Also does this car have some sort of shift stop so when this happens u dont grind the gears because thats what it felt like, it felt like I didnt depress the clutch enough, and thats what caused me to not be able to shift into 3rd. Is an over rev only possible on downshifting to wrong low gear.

For the more knowledgeable individuals on this forum, isn't there a mechanism inside the transmission that prevent one from shifting into 1st when the speed is to high?

Yea that will be caught by the rev limiter. In my case I was redlined in 3rd and missed forth and slid it into second thank god I clutched out with only minor damage (1300 for valves and retainers and headwork) if I would have fully engaged the clutch for more than .5 second boom it would be 5X more money.

Yeah I didnt slip into first, I just missed 3rd after an almost redlined 2nd gear shift, It revved up alot and I let off the gas, and shifted into 3rd. I was just wondering if an over rev can only occur, when mishifting to a lower gear, instead of a higher gear like from 2nd to 1st.

I missed third by not depressing the clutch all the way in, I hit between 1st and 3rd, and then released throttle and clutched into third from I guess it would be neutral. I didnt even get into 3rd gear I revved to like 7000-7500 and then shifted from 2nd to nothing cause I missed 3rd.
