Misfire woes
#11
180-190psi is pretty darn low for this motor. I had one cylinder down to 190 in a old f22 that was scored to shit and it barely fired. I realize that some comp testers can read lower then others as well, but 180 is pretty low regardless. If coil packs and injectors are deemed operating normally, I would be wondering about compression loss in those cylinders that are misfiring. Are the wet plugs fuel wet or is it oil? Excessive oil burning can cause misfiring as well.
Verify if you haven't already, that all coil pack and injector clips are connected, and in good condition. Harnesses get old and wire insulators get cracked, exposed and you can get voltage jumps. I just replaced the entire engine harness in my 01 because of this same shit.

I fought that shit for months a couple years back.
It was intermittent for a while.
I did new coils, plugs, borrowed injectors off a friend, etc...
Compression numbers were a little odd, and leakdown wasnt where i wanted it.
After about a month and a half i finally got a valve adjustment and i didn't have a problem since then.
Mine usually would be obvious at idle, but you couldn't tell as much once you got going.

I agree 180 is a bit low on this engine. You may be experiencing some low rpm misfires with that low of compression. Have you done a leakdown test to check where the loss is?

I think when I did mine last year it was 220 on all cylinders but different compression gauges will read a little different from what I have read. What is within Honda spec?
On another thought, will a bad knock sensor make the engine read a misfire code?

took it to a HONDA technician who has been working on honda's for over 20+ years and has a supercharged s2k himself. I asked him to do a compression and leakdown test and he said there is no need becauuse the misfire issue is intermittent. funny thing is the s2k didnt seem to misfire when it was at his shop. he said if had bent valves then it would misfire all the time. the misfire seems to come and go, its mostly present during idle. He said it might more electrical issue than mechanical.
I still dont understand why the s2k takes 4-5 crank before it starts. we'll replace or swap the fuel regulator to see if that fixes the issue. Also number 4 plug was wet with fuel, so maybe something is causing number cylinde not fire. I'll take out the spark plugs and crank the car to see if the all the spark plugs are giving spark.
