Misfire without CEL code

Misfire without CEL code
Has anyone had a cylinder Misfire without throwing a code. I was just wondering if this is possible, and what the engine will sound like if its misfiring at idle? Thanks.

If the engine misfires long enough, the CEL will turn on. It doesn't take long for the CEL to come on once misfiring begins. Less than a minute after the 1st temporary DTC for misfire is stored.

damas,
If you dont mind, I will re ask your question..... "Has anyone had a cylinder Misfire without throwing a code."
I have, and so far the dealler can't find why. It's been 2 weeks, If i'm lucky I might have my car back by christmas..... They are taking the head off next Tuesday.....
I would like to know if others have had this situation also, No codes with misfiring.....
Where are those "heavy Hitter's" That i keep hearing about...ummmm they would know..

Thats what I have been told as well. A computer can detect a fault and store it as a SOFT code. But under certain criteria or # of events it will then record it as a HARD code and throw a CEL.
