Default Misfire No CEL light

Hi Guys,
I am going to take my car to a Honda dealer to get them to diagnose why my car is misfiring and the plugs fouls after about 10,000 km of use.

I wonder if people could throw out some ideas as what it could be as the dealer is going to charge $99 per hour to diagnose the problem.

I found another dealer that will charge $88 flat rate but am a little sceptical as to whether or not they will actually do anything.

Basically the car misfires on idle as well as when i am driving. Everytime i am coming to a stop at the lights it almost stalls and then climbs back to 800rpms then starts bucking like its going to stall.

Also whenever i start the car, it starts and the revs sit at about 400 rpms then climbs back up & the bucking starts again.

I've tried the MAP Whack and that didnt work at all.

Sorry for the long post but if anyone could throw out some ideas at least i can try to avoid having to pay for several hours for a diagnosis.

By the way my car is 100% stock except for a K & N drop in filter & the previous owner did have headers & exhaust on the car but took them off & returned it to stock when he sold me the car.

Thanks in advance.

I thought the bucking at ~800 RPM after coming to a stop was common "problem" in the pre-2003 s2000's... Mine has done it for as long as I can remember... Did your's just start doing it?

I saw a post about replacing the ECU with a 2003 model... the guy said the problem went away after that... Too expensive for me, but I'll try and dig up the post...

Other then the ECU, I haven't heard of a "solution" to the problem...

BTW, I've started adding lubecontrol FP60... I've burned through one tank and still have the bucking... so either the FP60 doesn't do anything or it has nothing to do with the fuel system...

Unfortunately the bucking only just started about a month ago.

I cant understand why my plugs would foul up after only 10K km of use.

They were replaced along with fuel filter & MAP sensor and it still has the problem.

Tried the injector cleaners as well and still no good.

I have a 2003, it started mifiring around 33k. took it to the dealer and they wanted to remove the heads and look inside. Instead they just changed the fuel injectors and chek the lifers. (honda paid for this) It ran great for about 800 miles. It's back at the dealers now, they found leakage between the cyclinders. Turns out my "guide springs" are flattened a bit. I dont race or high rev the car. Nothing has been said about the ecu and i never have gotten an engine light. It just starts running rough, and stalling at idle, not sure what you mean by "bucking" but it did start out jerking, if that is what you mean. I'll lt you know wht happenes next but i leave on vacation next week and wont get the car back until aug... hope this helps or maybe ssomeone cn give me some news....
