BTW everyone i just did the test myself ...

i had my brother start the car.. and sure enough the sounds is coming from the tensioner im not sure whats it called, the one that holds the belt.. somewhere inside if the tensioner is inside then it must be it ... ill try to do a 2nd test.. i tried couple times and i guess i cant duplicate it..

I just took mine to the dealer and they said its the tensioner but they quoted me 167 just for the part, seems kinda on the high end whats the best place online for these sort of things

Thanks for all the help! Maybe i'll look into changing the tensioner as this issue bothers thecrap out of me. It's kind of embarassing as well, makes my car sound cheap. As long as nothing is actually "wrong" and is not damaging anything I guess it can be ignored.

a few people seem to have this problem wonder if we could get a tsb going on it, i know preludes had the exact same problem (except it was a belt, not a chain) and honda replaced mine for free at 70,000 miles.

the timing chain tensioner is a card in the spokes type sound, if you have a metalic grinding noise check into the starter as that would be the first suspect if it is not disengaging properly
