Caution. Since this sounds so shaddy I feel like this shop is going to now do some work (or claim to), and claim that its not warranty related, so you have to pay them. They will then use their mechanics lein to try to force you to either pay or they keep your car. I'd expect this to be a large invoice.
The way to protect yourself is to be very cautious about signing anything. This is how they are going to get you to authorize any 'new' work. If they say you need to sign something authorizing them to do the warranty work, read it over VERY carefully.
Here is a life lesson you can use for many things. If you aren't sure about something you ade being asked to sign, feel free to cross out stuff you don't agree with and to add in your own hand writing anything you think is missing. Then obviously take a copy of whatever you signed.
So if they make you sign something be sure to write on it something like 'customer signature authorizes warranty inspection and warranty repair only'.
