metal tap or click noise
So I've had this issue for a little while now that's driving me insane. Basically, when I'm on the car hard and it gets up into vtec, I can hear a faint sort of "click click clicking" noise that sounds like metal on metal. It almost sounds like a metal tapping, clicking or sort of popping. It's hard to describe. It'll "click" 2-3 times before going away.
It used to do this between 3-4k RPMs, but now I can't reproduce it in that RPM range at all. Another thing is that no matter how high I rev the engine with the hood open, the car refuses to make this noise if it's not in gear and just sitting there. Figures.
The motor doesn't chatter or click or do anything unusual when it's idling, the power is smooth everywhere, my gas mileage seems fine. The idle is steady, occasionally drops by a bar or so but only every once in awhile.
