Metal Fragments in Sump/Pan

Bare engine for 800 is good pal, cheapest I've seen for a while, whats the year and mileage?
Shame about the bottom end, you could always sell the crank/block etc for people who are doing a rebuild with liners etc.

It was cheap because it had previously blown a spark plug and been helicoiled so I'm not 100% on the condition of the head – looks like a reasonable job though.
The important bit, at least for my purposes, the bottom end \ bores look spot on so at least I have the good head from my old engine if I decided to mix and match a little.
I’m going to do a cylinder leakage test on it later this week to help me decide if I am going to fit it as is or not.
...this is turning into a right mission but it is quite nice to have a project.

I do have a CAI - fitted by the last owner - the filter is an inline foam one though so I wouldn't have expected that much water could get through. I can't remember driving through any big puddles or anything.
The idea that a fuel injector might have jammed is a scary one, at least for the sake of doing an engine swap as it could potentially happen again.
I might look into changing the injectors at well.
I think the loom\ECU shorting would probably be less likely so I’ll just have to chance leaving these in – I really can’t face changing the entire loom.

ouch, but look on the bright side: the F20 from honda just jump in price due to out of production.
800 is a still not a bad deal, hell, that's the price of a 20 years old miata engine.
good luck with the rebuild.

Its £700.-
That's ~ US$1130,-
Anyway..
The fracture looks pretty smooth, like glass.
A wristpin is more brittle than I thought.
And the piece made it into the sump without getting stuck.
When the piston skirt clears the cilinder wall its as good as covered by the crankshaft balance weight - by looking at a see-through drawing of an F20.
Would one not notice a bend rod in a running engine?

Is 1130 a lot of a second hand engine over the pond?
... It's pretty dirt cheap for a F20 here.
I'm surprised the engine ran at all with the rod and pin in that shape as well but we can hear it ticking over in the vids - I've heard engines sound worse with valves out of adjustment - it certainly didn't sound like catastrophic failure :-)
Will post up some updates on my rebuild anyway. :-)
Still wish I knew how and why it hydrolocked. :-/

my car sat parked in a heavy rain and hydrolocked just from water getting into my CAI. I never even moved the car, went to leave one day and when I went out to start the car, it did about a half of a turn(to start)and locked. sucked up the water that was in the CAI.
