Angry Metal dislodge sound.

I have an ap1 with an SOS stage 1 supercharger. I got the car back after a couple of years of a friend holding on to it. It seemed a bit neglected.

So to the point, I heard some strange engine noises and narrowed it down somewhat. I remove the supercharger belt and the serpentine belt.

I start the car and let it idle till warm than when I rev the vehicle while parked, it sounds like a piece of metal dislodges and bounces around before resettling. It will settle down and then I rev it high again and it seems to dislodge again and bounce around for a bit before it settles.

Unfortunately, this sounds like it could be very bad. I have attached an image of where the sound might be coming from. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts please let me know

potential noise area

Not that I know of, what are you thinking? I can make sure that the cap is still in one piece and nothing broke off.

my next step is get a strainer and drain the oil and pull the oil pan.

also plan to save samples of the oil for testing.

No. Sometimes the cap falls back behind the engine and gets stuck. Rattling against metal parts.

Good idea! I happen to have my stock cat in a box. I’ll replace my high flow cat and test again.

There seems to be something bouncing around under the valve cover. Gonna pull that next.
