Messed up diff cause by dealership
Seems that my rear diff. is having the "dragging" problem. I've taken it to a couple Honda dealers, and they say they don't know what TSB's are, and they won't replace/look at anything without charging me full price.
From talking to XViper, it may have had the AWD Honda fluid used the last 2 times the fluid has been changed
What would be the best way to resolve this? I know HardTopGuy can get me a new one, but it would cost me my right leg(thus ending my driving ability).
These S2000 are too complicated for a poor man like me. I want my civic back

Check your reciepts for the part # billed out for gear oil. I doubt VTM-4 fluid was put it, because the diff won't last more than 1000 miles without destroying itself.
It's not uncommon for a shop to quote you to inspect the vehicle when you are out of warranty, or have no extended warranty. Some extended warranties don't cover the diagnosis, so that fee can be the responsibility of the owner.

Well...if honda used the wrong sutff, its been way more than 1000 miles since and the diff. seems to be fine.
I think I may have gotten to down to the clutch being the problem.
Thanks Slows2k for all your help!

Up till this point, you have been directing your concerns to the rear diff. Now you suspect it could be the clutch. There is a vast amount of difference between the two. It is extremely difficult for anyone to diagnose this for you if you cannot pinpoint where the noises are coming from. And using the term "dragging" for a rear diff makes it doubly difficult.
I have become very reluctant to help anyone diagnose "noise" problems. This is a prime reason why. Rear diffs can make a "whine" or a clicking sound when going bad. A clutch makes a buzz or rattle. "Dragging" doesn't exactly describe either.

XViper...I do believe I was unclear on my choice of words. The sound could be considered a "buzzing" sound or a "grinding".
After talking with Slows2k...i think we came to the conclusion its probably related to the clutch. I've ridden/driven "normal" S2000 and I know what the "normal" sounds it makes are. Mine are not normal.

With this latest information, I think you can rule out the rear diff. As for the clutch buzz, this may not be normal but it does have widespread commonality. The TSB will cover it as long as the dealer deams that the car is still under valid warranty even though a TSB has nothing to do with warranty. Some dealers will even perform TSBs out of warranty.
