Default mechanical over rev

I accidentally did a 3-2 moneyshift on my ap2. Car seems normal. Do I need to check my valve retainers, or is it just the ap1 retainers that crack? I've been reading that ap2 valves will bend before the retainers crack. And if the valves bend it will throw a code. Can someone reassure me on that? Thanks.

Ap2 can withstand a 3-2 money shift

If you shift from 3rd gear at 8000rpm into 2nd gear, what kind of rpms are you turning?

at the track i went from 5th to 2nd with no problems haha. Rpms would have put me at redline in 4th but i missed it and hit 2nd, after it locked up the rear end and bounce off the limited i put the clutch in, hit 4th gear and i kept going with no problems. Ive done multiple misshifts, dont loose sleep over it.

Oh and after these multiple bad shifts including the 5-2 i had no cracked retainers and even at 88000 miles of beat down on that motor i had a total of 3% leak down across the board

If you have an ap1, broken retainer problems will not be evident right away. They can creep up tens of thousands of miles later.

The US version of the s2k revs to 8k, thats why it can withstand a money shift. It has that extra 1000 rpm of insurance.

So if you have an AP2 in other parts of the world that rev to 9k, you will not have this insurance.

sorry for the thread revival, but its not that old... and i didnt want to make a new thread

So this morning i did a 2 -> 1 money shift on a freeway on ramp. the engine was fully warm and i caught it really quick. the tires did screech for like less than half of a second. after the incident the car drove completely normally, still hits vtec fine and hard. I also popped the hood and really listened to the engine noises and it sounds exactly like it did before. (i generally listen to the engine carefully every once an a while so i know how my baby sounds). should I worry about my car? my gut tells me no, should i bother to take the valve cover off and check retainers? compression test?

btw my car is a USDM MY04 with f22c motor

AP2:

You have a 2.2L engine. you are fine.

Comp test will show nothing.

There will be no symptoms at all, not even the slightest noise.

AP1:

ONLY way to verify is to pull the VC and check them.

If you think you sent the engine over 9700, then absolutely check them.
