Mechanical Over-rev
#22
The rev limiter does nothing for those who downshift into too low of a gear causing a 'mechanical overrev.'

UPDATE:
I pulled my valve cover again today and inspected the keepers and retainers. All the keepers seemed flush with the retainers and they all were fairly uniform. I was wondering if I should do anything else to check this engine out. Does anybody have any suggestions? I feel the engine runs as normal and don't hear any noises. The power is the same as well.

Don't do it again. I just dropped down to zero in compression in 2 cylinders yesterday after an over rev. It's not pretty, man I dont know where to go from here. Prolly gonna need to pm billman, and the under the hood forum should become my best freind over the next few months. I really dont know if I hsould just by an f22c or rebuild my current engine with a stroker kit. I'm 18 so the money is kind of limited. Any help from any one will be great!

No, I havnt looked under the valve cover yet, I really dont even want to. My car barely starts and runs and have no compression in 2 cylinders, I'm sure its done for. I was going from top of 3rd to 4th, when I accidently went into 2nd gear. Not sure how fast I was going but it was probably what ever the top speed in 3rd is in f20c. Now this is the second time this has happened. The first time it was all good, no problems, this second time definitely did it for me. Just be carefull to not do it again. And I only had 30k miles on the car. I guess with every problem that arrises there is always a good solution, hopefully before spring i'll be sporting some type of bad ass new engine.
