[QUOTE=slipstream444,Oct 18 2010, 04:51 PM]It depends on how long the 16k mile CMC has been sitting around.

If I may:

While it may not be obvious, the big advantage of the DOT 5.1 fluids is that they contain all of the nifty water-absorbing characteristics of the DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids while simultaneously providing for very high boiling points and relatively stable viscosity over a wide range of temperatures. The best of all worlds, you could say.
So, what is the downside of the DOT 5.1 fluids? Like most things in life, the good stuff isn’t cheap. DOT 5.1 fluids typically cost three to four times as much to manufacture as a conventional DOT 4 fluids. There’s always a catch…
Quote from the Stoptech page linked to a couple of posts (but a couple of years!) ago.
Still worth it to read it all.

One thing the Stoptech page doesn't mention as an IMO important (or at last something to consider) property = viscosity.

Some brake fluids are thinner than others and one does notice a slight difference in how fast ABS works with this thinner fluid - the pulses seem to go faster.
Those fluids are used (as OEM fluid) in cars with stability systems that need to work quickly while the fluid is cold & relatively thick.
A little thinner fluid makes a difference.

In an 01? I think you're better off changing the master cylinder out.

I've cleaned mine multiple times. The poor shifting comes back within a week.

I'm going to be replacing mine.

The sticky feeling is the ball end of the slave cylinder that transfers movement to the throwout arm.

You need to grind the nipple off and grease it.
